Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said that more convention with international organisations should be organised to help Indian cinema go global.

Khan said this while talking to reporters on the sidelines an award function organised on the last day of the three-day mega media and entertainment industry event, FICCI Frames here on Thursday.

"We have the largest film industry in the world, I think its time we were able to move on to the rest of the world, increase the business, make sure that Indian films and culture spreads out across the world. So it's a good move, hopefully with these kinds of conventions that FICCI has and so many film people coming down here, I think it'll be good if we can synergize and have a relationship with all international organisations to make sure the films go global," said Khan.

Khan was bestowed with the Global Entertainment and Media Personality award at the FICCI Frames 2010 Excellence Awards.

Actress Vidya Balan also voiced similar opinion and said Indian cinema has now come out on its own, thus the world is liking it.

"There is every scope for our films to go global today. Today things have become far more accessible in terms of exchanges between countries and everything's India has become very-very fashionable, and its something that's not going to go out of fashion basically because India has come-in on to its own completely now. We take great pride in what we are doing and I think that's reflecting in our cinema, which is why everyone is liking it a lot and they are lapping it up," said Balan.

Bollywood glitterati including super star Amitabh Bachchan, filmmaker Karan Johar, actor Ranbir Kapoor, Neha Dhupia among others marked their presence at the award ceremony.

This year the event focussed on issues that hold promise and those that beset the Indian media and entertainment industry like piracy, proliferation of Indian films to new avenues, better collaboration with foreign films, new formats, and more.

The media and entertainment industry had gone through a tough time in the last two years as its mainstay advertising industry suffered due to the global financial slowdown. (ANI)
