Russians have rallied in force to protest economic conditions in the country.

Anti-government rallies took place all over the country on Saturday, when Russians took to the streets in a so-called Day of Anger.

Protesting the government's economic policy and making demands for more political freedoms, the demonstrators demanded that Prime Minister Vladimir Putin resign.

Thousands of people rallied in cities such as St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vladivostok and Irkutsk, demanding the dismissal of the Putin government and the return of direct elections for governors.

Many demonstrators in the crowds said they were there because they were upset with the way their meagre funds were being channelled into high gas and electricity charges.

It is believed that some local authorities tried to stop the rallies by telling local media that the demonstrations had been banned.

Russians come out in force against Putin

It was Putin who put Russia back onto the world map as a great nation. And yet a few Russians are protesting against him!Oh, these idiots!

Some people’s children. Putin has done almost everything to put Russia back on its feet. Russia is again a power that faces USA and the EU’s arrogance, but people do not understand that you cannot have everything you want in life. Putin cannot please everybody. What he has done has been for the benefit of the majority and not for the benefit of some stupid Russians wanting to have everything for granted. Putin should resign, and not because the stupids are requesting that, but to show that, at the present times, Russia is nothing without him.

Do not defend those with 'wielding power'

I am shocked to find some people accusing the Russians of comming out in thier dozens demostrating to the streets, state of their economy. These are crying foul over the Russians of back stabbing Putin whom they regard god father of Russia. Ipso factor Putin is mortal he can not hold power infinitely. No one person has keys to economic success of a nation, but a nation can determine its destine, by either become selient and lazy, allowing an idividual to messy about, the life of others as could seen some leaders, in forms of tyrant Mugabe and other asian in particlar Iran. I urge all found thinking Russians, to tell Putin to resign if it is within their interest for the survival of that this great nation, Russian should not be a case study simmiilar to economic discourses faced by Greeks. Please be vigilant if your actions are worth the sweat and champion Russia’s continuety.Russian is nothing without the Russians, and Putin is nothing without the Russians, and the Russians are nothing without themselves.

By Crazy Serb, 03-21-10, 11:01 PM

    Yeah

And who should switch places with Putin, who should come to his place? Do you want Jeltsin back? Do you want somebody who will sell gas and petrol to EU and China for 1/5 of the todays price? Or do you want somebody who will let russian people be killed in south? The whole world is afraid of PUTIN, and they know that he is the real power, a thorn in their side. Be glad Putin is alive, because he brought Russia back into the superpower status, economicaly and militarily. Long live Putin and great RUSSIA, and i see him next president in 2012.
